Ms. Jill Carell attained her bachelor’s degree in communications and her teaching certificate from the University of Pittsburgh. Ms. Carell later earned her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. Ms. Carell began her teaching career in Los Angeles where she taught for 10 years before becoming a reporter for The Orange County Register. After chasing down stories for a couple of years, Ms. Carell missed teaching and returned to the classroom. Throughout her career, Ms. Carell has taught every grade from first through sixth. She also taught English as a Second Language during her time on the West Coast. Outside of school, Ms. Carell enjoys cooking, running, playing tennis and working out. Ms. Carell has run several marathons and has traveled extensively. Ms. Carell began the Girls on the Run program at The Joseph Sears School in 2005 and she is pleased to see the program is still going strong.
