Summer Construction Notice

Summer Construction Notice

As we transition into the last summer of construction for the completion of the Master Facilities Plan at The Joseph Sears School, we are sending this communication to inform you of many important items related to the construction project. If you have any questions, please email construction@kenilworth38.org. For up-to-date information, please visit The Joseph Sears School's website.

Summer Entrance Procedures

The front office will be temporarily moved to the Practical Arts Room #154. Staff and visitors will use the Community Entrance - Door #9 when entering and exiting the building. When visiting the school, please use Door #9 and check in as usual at the new main office location, Room #154. Signage will be posted to help locate the new main office. Please be advised that you must bring your valid state-issued ID to facilitate the check-in process for admittance into the building, regardless of construction status.

Safety Reminder for Summer Worksite

Over the summer, parts of the school will be a construction zone and a working area. Please reference the image above for construction zones. Impacted areas include the front of the building, the kindergarten walkway, and the kindergarten playground. Only authorized personnel are permitted to enter any fenced-off area. Construction fencing will be installed on Monday, June 9. There will be an increase in construction traffic in the back and front of the schoolhouse.

The Kenilworth Park District will still utilize the cafenasium, blacktop, south playground, and Townley Field for their summer programming. We ask those participating in the programs to remain mindful of the nearby construction zone.

We thank you for your partnership over the last five years. We are excited to welcome back teachers, students, and staff this fall and to open the doors to our newly transformed schoolhouse. The Master Facilities process represents our collective commitment to the future of education and academic excellence in Kenilworth. Have a safe and wonderful summer.
