Ms. Caryn Friedman has held several positions during her tenure at The Joseph Sears School, which began in 1998. Ms. Friedman has been a student services teacher at the elementary and junior high levels. She also taught third grade general education at Sears. A native of Chicago’s North Shore, Ms. Friedman is also a proud Buckeye, have strong ties to the state of Ohio. Ms. Friedman earned her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State. Ms. Friedman received her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University. She has been an adjunct professor at National Louis University where she taught graduate-level courses in mathematics and special education. Ms. Friedman describes the ten years she spent as a Special Olympics coach at New Trier High school as one of the highlights of her life. Ms. Friedman lives an active life where she enjoys kayaking, biking, cross-country skiing, hiking and walking her dog along the lakefront. Ms. Friedman loves to travel and does so regularly to visit her three children in Colorado and New York.
