Welcome
Caring Parent Community
For the 2024-2025 school year, we’re excited to introduce the Caring Parent Community—a fresh and expanded version of the former DEB Committee (Diversity, Equity, and Belonging)—as part of the JSSPVA’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity.
This year, we’re proud to continue aligning with the school’s initiatives and the Portrait of a Sears Graduate, which celebrates qualities like being a Fearless Learner, Creative Thinker, Courageous Advocate, and Compassionate Citizen. While our amazing teachers nurture these traits at school, parents are key to supporting them at home. We’re all in this together!
Around 20% of Sears students have a diagnosis or disability, and many others face challenges
with relationships, executive functioning, and anxiety. As parents, we know that every child—and parent—will encounter obstacles along the way. But we’re not alone in this! Many families share these experiences, and we can walk this path together, offering support and understanding.
The Caring Parent Community is here to create a welcoming space for all families. We’re
expanding parent education programs and offering a variety of opportunities to connect, like morning coffees, book clubs, evening socials, and more. Our goal is to strengthen connections, build a supportive community for parents and kids alike, and make the journey of parenting a little easier—and a lot less isolating!
