Field hockey is offered to sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls at The Joseph Sears School. During the first week of practice the players will be divided into two teams, a varsity and junior varsity. Eighth grade girls are on varsity, sixth grade girls are on junior varsity, and seventh grade is divided between varsity and junior varsity based on experience, skill level, and the number of players who join to team. If there are not enough players to create two teams, there will be one team and they will be considered varsity.
Practices and games will take place after school, Monday-Friday. Practices are mandatory, and playing time may be compromised if a player does not consistently attend practices and games. The season takes place in the fall, starting the first week of school, and the season ends with an athletics awards ceremony.
All participants are required to wear athletic attire to practice, also they must provide approved shin guards, mouth guard, eyewear, cleats and field hockey stick. A jersey and skirt will be provided by the school for games. Uniforms will need to be returned at the end of the season. Student athletes who do not return uniforms will be assessed a replacement fee.
