Superintendent's Message

Dr. Kelley KalinichWelcome to the Kenilworth School District No. 38 website.  Our School District is an Illinois, Cook County, one-school district serving approximately 600 students who reside in Kenilworth, as well as portions of Winnetka and Wilmette. Our School is located in suburban Kenilworth, north of Chicago. In addition to being a part of the Village of Kenilworth, the District is one of seven school districts in New Trier Township. The variety of interests and professions of our school families provides us with a student population that is dedicated to excellence in education.

The Joseph Sears School serves children in prekindergarten through eighth grade. The prekindergarten program is a tuition-mbased, half-day program for four-year-old student residents and non-residents. Kindergarten students attend a half-day program with an option to attend  Extended Day Kindergarten for a fee to cover the balance of the school day.  Children are eligible in the state of Illinois to enter Kindergarten if they are five-years-old on or before September 1 of the year they begin school.

Students in grades first through eight enjoy a full day comprehensive instructional program, which includes Art, Music, Foreign Language and Physical Education. In addition, students in six through eighth grades have the opportunity to participate in elective class offerings and many extra-curricular opportunities are available to enhance our students’ learning process. As a feeder school for New Trier High School District No. 203, our faculty works diligently to support the high school curriculum which prepares our students for a smooth and successful transition.

As you peruse, our website you will observe the many faculty and staff who serve our students. We are fortunate to have a healthy combination of veteran and new faculty members who bring outstanding teaching and learning skills to our learning environments. As a result, our students are able to expand and enhance their skills and knowledge in order to become life-long learners and successfully compete in the 21st Century.

Thanks to the dedication of our faculty and staff, strong support from the school community and leadership from the Board of Education, we are proud to uphold The Joseph Sears School motto: That Youth May Advance. This focus and these efforts have lead our School District to be consistently recognized for high academic student achievement. Our School has also received numerous awards while establishing and maintaining a stable, fiscally sound organization which is a responsible steward of public funds.
