Dear Joseph Sears School Community Member,
I am honored to be the principal at The Joseph Sears School. I have spent my career in schools as a teacher, reading specialist, school counselor, principal, human resource administrator and school superintendent. This is an incredible school. You may have heard that the Chicago Magazine, in their September 2012 issue, identified Sears as the #1 School in Cook County.
The history of The Joseph Sears School spans three centuries. Over the course of these past 114 years, there have been many changes in the greater Sears community, the building itself, the curriculum, and the delivery of instruction. One constant, however, is the dedication to, and expectation of, academic and social excellence. The Joseph Sears School is unique among public schools, and its record of student achievement is unparalleled among North Shore communities, the State of Illinois, and the entire country. Besides academic achievement, our students dedicate themselves to service projects in the school, the community, and throughout the greater Chicago area. Their growth as individuals of character is encouraged and expected, and the parents, faculty, and staff go above and beyond to provide them with important opportunities in this regard.
I look forward to meeting all of our students and families. If I may be of service to you, in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.
